Visibility is the new power
Sunday musings: A queer creator’s manifesto on storytelling, survival, and building a brand that reflects the future. not the past.
I have stopped writing for applause.
I have stopped chasing viral posts, approval from the algorithm, or the fleeting high of engagement metrics.
I no longer cared if my story landed on a list, got featured in someone’s roundup, or won a seat at someone else’s table. Because I finally understood something that changed everything: My voice was not built for decoration. It was built for disruption.
I am a queer parent raising a neurodiverse daughter. Almost every room I walk into reminds me that the world is still not designed for either of us. The stories I did not see growing up—the ones that could have permitted me to dream, feel safe, and lead— still do not exist where they matter most.
Not in boardrooms. Not in brand campaigns. And not in leadership summits.
So I began to write, not to go viral but to become visible. I started creating what I wished existed, a breadcrumb trail of representation, a slow, deliberate rebellion, a reclamation of the space I was once told I did not belong in.
That is why I do not see my content as content. I see it as resistance. Each story is a quiet glitch in the matrix. A way of whispering to my daughter, “You are allowed to take up space. You are not a footnote. You are the future.”
But here is the thing about building a voice in public: It is not about performance. It is about evolution. And that evolution can be terrifying. It asks you to stop performing the version of yourself you think the world wants. It asks you to speak before you’re ready. To lead before you feel qualified. To show up, messy and true, when you’ve been trained to be polished and perfect.
That is where personal branding gets misunderstood. It is not about aesthetics. It’s about alignment. It is not about building a persona. It is about building trust. And trust starts with telling the truth, even when it is inconvenient, especially when it is problematic.
Being a creator today means opting out of the systems never built for us and creating something better. It means reclaiming your voice from institutions that taught you to shrink. It means using storytelling not just as a tool for growth but as a tool for remembering who you are, what you stand for, and who you might become.
And if you are here reading this, you probably feel it too, that pull to create something of your own, to build a brand that is not just profitable but principled. You should lead with your values, not just your metrics.
That is the work I now dedicate my life to.
I help people like you build platforms that are not performative but powerful. I coach creators, leaders, and teams to develop clear, human, high-conviction communication that does not just sell but resonates.
Because when you tell a better story, you do not just change your brand. You change what your audience believes is possible for themselves, their business, and the world.
See you next Sunday.
