AI writes faster, but it cannot do this
Sunday musings: Why I trust AI with my tools, but never my voice.
I use AI every day. But I will never let it write my content because my words are stitched from flesh and experience, not code and convenience.
Living authentically in Singapore, a place still clinging to conservative expectations, has taught me the difference between performance and presence.
I have walked down the street in a skirt and been stared at and chased out of bathrooms by cleaners and misgendered by strangers, and yet, I keep showing up, because hiding would mean giving up on the life I have fought so hard to build.
Being gender-fluid and pansexual is not something I discovered through a hashtag. It was a slow and hard-won clarity. And every sentence I write is shaped by that journey because I do not create content to be trendy.
I create to metabolise experience and to reflect on the days I wondered if my marriage could survive my transformation, make sense of raising a neurodiverse daughter in a world that does not yet know how to embrace her and to alchemise fear into frameworks and scars into systems that can support others.
That is why I will always write my content.
Yes, I use AI. I run a one-person business. I wear every hat, from being a creator, strategist, admin, coach, podcast host, and father. So I use tools. Calendly books my calls, Otter.ai transcribes my interviews, Perplexity gives me signal instead of noise and Kortex, Dan Koe’s platform, is where I distil insights from YouTube lectures and archive voice notes from my morning walks.
But none of these tools tell my story for me. They are the scaffolding, not the soul, polish, and pulse. The Internet is now drowning in decent content from decent prompts. But decent does not cut through anymore because people do not want to be flawless. They want to feel, and they will scroll past if they cannot sense the human behind the words.
In this noisy digital world, voice is the last true differentiator because perspective is rare and lived insight is irreplaceable.
And I always teach my clients and students that you cannot automate your essence. In my work, I help creators, founders, and leaders build a personal brand that feels personal. Not a persona, but a presence.
Whether through my storytelling and communication strategy, where we unpack the narratives that move your audience, or leadership communication coaching, where I help you speak with clarity and courage in high-stakes rooms, I always stress that your story is your leverage.
I also work with executives through my LinkedIn personal branding strategy, where we develop a magnetic voice that builds trust, not just visibility. For teams, my brand narrative workshops help align your company’s voice around something more meaningful than marketing jargon, which is your reason for existing.
Storytelling is for anyone trying to build trust in an increasingly fragmented world. Trust is earned not through polish but through proof of humanity, through stories that say, "I’ve been there, too.”
Through language that makes people feel less alone. Through showing up when it would be easier to stay silent.
So yes, I use AI. But the meaning and the message? That is mine.
See you next Sunday.
