10 rules of wealth, work, and wellbeing I live by
Sunday musings: Why the key to freedom is more honesty, systems, and story, and not more hours.
When I left the media industry to build my own business, I was not chasing freedom; I was chasing survival.
My daughter had just been diagnosed with global developmental delay. Four therapy sessions a week. No roadmap and safety net, and just a burning question of how do I build a life where I can show up for her without losing myself?
That was how Human Algorithm was born.
I did not have a five-year plan, had a past I was not proud of, a neurodiverse daughter who needed me present, and a deep urge to stop performing and start telling the truth.
My story was not clean because I had been arrested, had battled shame, and I had burned out more times than I could count. But I knew that if I wanted to build something sustainable, I had to stop playing the wrong game.
Because the truth is, most people work 8–12 hours a day and still feel broke, exhausted, and unfulfilled. It is not because they are not working hard, but because they are playing by rules that were never designed for their well-being.
So I rewrote the rules.
I stopped chasing productivity and started chasing clarity.
Because working more hours kills creativity. My best ideas come on bike rides with my daughter, not in front of a screen. Darwin worked 3–4 hours a day. So does Human Algorithm.
I stopped stacking credentials and started stacking specific knowledge.
The kind you cannot outsource and rooted in my lived experience of queer, gender-fluid, neurodiverse-parented, media-trained, and storytelling-obsessed. Your uniqueness is your leverage, not your liability.
I stopped gripping for control and started trusting the process.
When I stopped obsessing over outcomes, I started receiving opportunities I did not even see coming. That is the paradox. The less you chase, the more you attract.
I stopped relying on willpower and built systems.
My calendar now reflects my energy, not someone else’s urgency. I write in the mornings, coach in the afternoons, rest in between. Systems always beat motivation, always.
I embraced strategic discomfort.
I launched my first product when I still had impostor syndrome. I filmed my first podcast episodes with shaking hands. Tactical stress stretches you and chronic stress breaks you.
I started recovering like an athlete.
We do not build muscle during the workout, but we build it during recovery. The same goes for creativity. My 4-hour workday is not laziness, it is a design choice for longevity.
I turned my authenticity into a competitive moat.
I am not trying to sound like anyone else online. My weird, messy, contradictory self is an asset. And the parts of me I was once ashamed of? They now power every story I write.
I made my scars my business model.
I did not build Human Algorithm from my strengths, but from the wounds I healed. Every brand workshop, coaching session, or digital product I launch is grounded in that truth.
I redesigned my environment.
I replaced doomscrolling with deep study and built a workflow that honours my rhythms. I stopped waiting for inspiration and started engineering it.
And above all, I chose leverage over labour.
Writing is my leverage and content that compounds. Digital products that sell while I sleep and systems that scale without burning me out. That is how I hit $5K months with a one-person business and a four-hour workday.
This is what I teach through Human Algorithm about storytelling through transformation.
If you are tired of the grind and ready to build a business that reflects who you are, not just what you can endure, I can help. Not with hype, but with strategy, systems, and soul.
